Ready, Willing & Working Highlights Program Expansion with “Children’s Day at Cumberland Prison” Video

Ready, Willing & Working (RWW) released the video “Children’s Day at Cumberland Prison” on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The video showcases the expansion of the program’s core supportive services to include fathers who are currently incarcerated.

Filmed during the holidays, the video highlights activities directed by Board Member Carol Fennelly at the federal prison including allowing incarcerated Dads to “shop” for gifts, families doing crafts and playing games together, enjoying sweet treats, dancing and recording books for the kids to take home.

President Patty Brosmer shared: “The day emphasized the deep joy and connection between fathers and children, reinforcing the resilience of these families. For incarcerated dads, it was a rare opportunity to give gifts and emotionally bond with their kids while reaffirming their roles as loving parents.”

Through programs like RWW Children’s Day, the strength of a family can help a dad to stay out of prison in the future. With the supportive services already provided to the “Men in Blue” in Washington, D.C., this addition to the program continues efforts to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency and criminal recidivism.

RWW would not be able to make this impact without community support. Your generosity ensures that the supportive services established, including case management meetings, relapse prevention, Metro fare cards, and other incentives, provide the tools necessary for the “men in blue” to be successful. All donations are tax deductible (tax ID #26-2383012). Thank you for consideration of supporting Ready, Willing & Working.
